Threshold Ride! without the Threshold. I apologize for not having the technology in place for our Threshold Ride this morning. We discovered yesterday what has been causing the problems with the new technology for the past week or so. We are hoping to have it repaired in the next week. We appreciate your patience and understanding! And don't worry! We will be back to setting our thresholds and reaching for our peak perfomance while even riding to your total requests before you know it! And in spite of not having the amazing threshold technology this morning, everyone in class this morning was amazing! Thanks for your commitment, determination, focus, positive energy and willingness to work hard - even intensely! - and yet still have fun! 'Cuz that is what we did this morning! We worked hard! We made a difference! We made changes! We reached goals! And we had fun! We even went over for an extra bonus ride! So thanks to everyone in class this morning and if you weren't there, I hope to see you in class soon! In good health, tommy!

Have fun while you work out! That is a goal of each of my #totalrequestride classes @crunchgym. We play fun, high energy music videos at the beginning of class each week. Just to get the blood pumpin', the energy up, the bodies warmed up and ready to work out! Then we get down to business and focus on the work! I try to include fun in all of my classes here at Crunch Fitness - Sunset...even while we focus so much of our energy on the intensity and the work. To make the time that you are struggling go by so much faster! Instead of getting all bogged down in the weight of what you are supposed to do and what you are supposed to be accomplishing, I feel it is crucial to lighten things up a bit at the same time. So that you don't get frustrated. So that you don't get bored. So that you don't quit. The music is usually the primary catalyst for adding the fun. But even a quick, light comment to make you smile or even laugh can provide that slight, brief, momentary "distraction" - not from the form, pace, resistance or movement - but from the intensity of the challenge. Just for a split second. Just for fun. Just to change things up a bit. And if you can smile while you work out, then I think that's all the better! Of course, none of this is to take away from the necessary work! In no way is this intended to mean that my classes are too light or too much about the fun or even just for beginners! Absolutely not! It is my job as the instructor to create a class that is accessible as possible to beginners but at the same time, as challenging as possible for the experienced riders! Yes, I love to welcome newcomers to class and I feel it is extremely important to spend a little extra time helping them get set up correctly as well as to teach them proper form. I want them to get as much out of their first classes as I want experienced riders to get out of theirs! I want newcomers to come back and eventually be experienced riders! So I feel it is my job to do as much of this as I can in each of my classes. I feel it is vital for me as an instructor to welcome, help, train and challenge those new to spinning as well as it is to push the he!! out of those that have been spinning for a while! And of course, adding a little levity to the process to help everyone get results and have a good time is also a requirement for me. I want to make you sweat! I want to make you smile! I want you to make those changes in your mind and in your body that you are so willing to work so hard for! So come and work out and smile in the Ride with Tommy! Hope to see you all in class soon! Until then, in good health! tommy

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night..." Los Angeles rarely gets snow, and we are certainly in desperate need of rain, but we got some this morning! Lightning, thunder and rain! It was so nice! But yet, that didn't stop so many of you from trudging through it all and making it to class! You guys were awesome! And I guess we could add "...nor technical difficulties!" as once again, we ran into some technical difficulties...this time trying to start the Threshold Ride program. I am so sorry that the program wasn't working this morning, but I am so grateful and impressed by those of you that stayed and continued to work hard and achieve your goals! Impressive. Inspiring. Dedicated. Challenged. Focused. Results-oriented. I can't state accurately or often enough how I am continuously impressed by your dedication and commitment. I ask for commitment in class and I get it back in droves! And when so much can get in the way (i.e. the rain, thunder, lightning, technical issues, etc.), it is always so nice to see that the heart and passion of you riders overcomes it all. Wow. Color me happy. Impressed. Humbled. Inspired. So I look forward to seeing you all next time! Until then, in good health, tommy

I am so excited about this morning's track list! The Ride with Tommy!'s Sexy Spin @crunchgym - Sunset was full of special music including several that had a very personal connection with me. Todrick Hall @toddyrockstar just released his new single and video, "Low" which is so great and so much fun! Todrick, a Crunch member, is one of the most multi-talented people I know! If you haven't yet, check out his many YouTube videos! Crazy talented! And speaking of crazy talented, it happens to be the amazingly talented @DebbyHoliday Debby Holiday's birthday today! She is one of the most beautiful people inside and out! I have loved and played her music for a long time in my classes, and today I played her most recent single, "Lift". Happy birthday, Debby! Finally, I am a huge fan of Giorgio Moroder's music. Yes, he was a huge hitmaker in the 70s and 80s including songs by Donna Summer (Last Dance, MacArthur Park, No More Tears, I Feel Love), Blondie (Call Me), Irene Cara (What A Feelin'), Limahl (lead singer of Kajagoogoo's solo hit, "The Neverending Story"), and Kenny Loggins (Danger Zone). Well he just released his first album in over 30 years and it is amazing! He has produced songs featuring the vocals of Kylie Minogue (Right Here, Right Now), Sia (the title cut, Deja Vu), Britney Spears (a remake of Suzanne Vega's Tom's Diner) and more! I hope all of you had as much fun riding to this morning's track list as I had putting it together. Thank you as always for your support and for trusting me with the opportunity to help you change your body, improve your physical and mental fitness, and reach your personal fitness goals. It is an honor that I do not take lightly! So feel proud of what you accomplished in class this morning, share the positive energy that you created in class with people that you encounter throughout the day, and make plans to do it all again! In good health, tommy

Well the new Peak Performance Ride is off to a strong start on Tuesday mornings at 7:00am @crunchgym - Sunset! Now don't let that fancy title scare you off. Like I have been saying in class, the class is not really that much different from what you are used to. However, we are slowly introducing a little bit more resistance work a little bit at a time. The idea is to more accurately simulate an actual road ride that incorporates true hills. And to make it even better, we have the new technology that allows us to see or monitor our workouts on huge, big-screen tv's at the front of class. You can see a number that represents the actual power that you are exerting while working so hard. You can see the actual rpm's (revolutions per minute) that you are actually pedaling. You can see where you rank in regards to the other riders in class. All of this is to help motivate you and to provide you with more information regarding your workout. And hopefully with more information, you will learn more about your workout and how your body reacts to your workout as well as the challenges and obstacles that you create and overcome in class! Now doesn't that sound exciting? It is! Again, class is not radically different. We still warm up, jog, add movements, climb hills, run and cool down. We just add a little more resistance or "hill work" into the mix and are able to visually monitor what you are doing while doing it! Come check it out! Thanks as always for your support of the Ride with Tommy! and all the newest classes @crunchgym - Sunset that incorporate the latest, cutting-edge technology to help you get the best, most challenging and fun ride possible! In good health, tommy

There is a lot that goes into the preparation of a spin class. There is a lot that can make it a pleasurable (as pleasurable as can be for a workout!) and rewarding experience. An important part of that experience is the music. I always try to provide fun, high-energy and popular music that represents a variety of styles so that everyone in class can relate and benefit from their favorite song, artist or genre at one point. It is my job as the instructor to make class as challenging as possible for experienced riders, as assessible as possible for newcomers, and always as fun, high-energy, positive, intense and distraction-free as possible. These are my goals for every class. I do not take your trust and my responsibility lightly. I hope that my goals are met for you, the rider. I always look forward to our 45-minute journeys together. Thanks for the opportunity. I hope to see you in class (again) soon! Until then, in good health, tommy

So this morning's Threshold Ride became a Threshold Pride Ride! As you can easily see by glancing at my track list, there was a definite theme. Pride. Celebrate. Perfect. As we celebrate Pride here in Los Angeles, I wanted to take the opportunity in this morning's class to highlight musically what we are celebrating. What we should be proud of. Ourselves. No matter who you are. No matter what you are. No matter where you come from. No matter who you love. Each of us is so important. So awesome. So amazing. So worth it! We have traveled a long way to get to where we are today. We have a long way to go, but there is so much to celebrate! And there is so much to look forward to! So let's emphasize the positive! Spend less time being afraid or tearing down those that may be different. Spend more time loving everyone for what they can contribute. And everyone can contribute something positive to society. And the easiest and best way to do that is to start by just loving each other. Loving yourself. Yes, it can all be taken down to the most basic thing...love. So just do it. Just love it! Just love each other. Just love you! Be confident. Work as hard as you can to be the best you can be. Then, stand up for what you so strongly believe. For what you deserve. Fairness. Equality. Love from others. So let's get this celebration started! You are born this way so be proud! I got my pride and it is a deeper love for all of us! Don't be afraid to express yourself. You are perfect, and you are so worth it! Happy Pride everyone! Celebrate! Be safe! Be kind! Love!

Music Videos @darrencriss @mileycyrus @crunchgym #totalrequestride That's right. Nothing but fun in this morning's intense class. Some of my favorite high energy videos to start the class off right. Then following that up with some of the most motivational music to complete one of the most high energy, empowering, challenging, intense and fun classes ever! After yesterday's emotional send off for this year's California AIDS LifeCycle riders, I carried some of the songs specifically chosen for that class over to today's ride. Jennifer Lopez's @jlo "Booty" is one of my favorite videos to start a class off right! @tomhanks dancing in @carlyraejepsen's video for "I Really Like You" is also a lot of fun and destined to be one of the songs of summer for sure! @giorgiomoroder's new single featuring @sia, "Deja Vu" continued the energy and fun. Eventually getting to my recent favorite combination of a song written by Darren Criss for an episode of "Glee", "Rise", and a remix of the inspirational Miley Cyrus song, "The Climb" which is perfect, of course, for a hill. (See what I did there? :o) Then, cooling down to one of my current favorite ballads from the movie, "Planes: Fire and Rescue", "Still I Fly". And then another of my favorite ballads, "You Have More Friends Than You Know", which was written by Jeff Marx and Mervyn Warren and commissioned by the @ItGetsBetter project in 2013 for a touring stage production about the bullying of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth. Powerful. And finally, as the @AIDSLifeCycle ride raises millions of dollars for AIDS research and for those living with HIV/AIDS, I felt it was vital to end the cool down with a groundbreaking and iconic fundraising song for the cause, "That's What Friends Are For" from 1985 by Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder and Elton John @eltonjohndotcom. I have to be honest and say that between yesterday's Extra Special Sexy LifeCycle Spin and today's #totalrequestride, I continue to love what I do and feel completely and utterly blessed to be able to keep doing it. I am humbled and grateful. I often say in my classes that even the smallest change can make a big difference. I hope to live that truth day to day in the small efforts of my classes. In good health, tommy

Wow! Once again, I am blown away by the energy, fun, instensity, sweat, hard work, and focus in this morning's Extra Special Sexy LifeCycle Spin @crunchgym - Sunset! What was extra special about it? Well, we were lucky enough to have 7 riders from next week's 2015 California AIDS LifeCycle ride! Our annual extra special class is our way to show support to these amazing individuals that have been training for the past 10 months to a year to prepare for a ride that will most likely change their lives as well as the lives of so many others! That's right! Altogether, there will be almost 3,000 riders taking part in the LifeCycle ride. Last year, they raised over $15 million. This year, they will most likely raise even more! Proceeds benefit the programs of the LA LGBT Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation that help research and those living with HIV/AIDS. So not only have these riders been training for so long, they have also been fundraising. Each rider must raise a minimum of $3,000. Most of the riders in class this morning have already far exceeded that minimum. In fact, these riders have raised from between the minimum $3,000 up to $15,000! How awesome is that! On Sunday, May 31st, they will begin their ride in San Francisco where they will ride 545 miles to Los Angeles, anywhere from 45 to 110 miles per day. They will pass through the finish line on Saturday, June 6th, at the Veterans Center just outside of Brentwood. There is still time to make a donation to any of these riders. The links to their donation pages are listed below. Help out if you can. Every little bit helps! And just like in class, every little thing you do can make a big difference! So make a difference! Make a BIG difference! In good health! tommy

And thanks to these amazing businesses that donated items to this morning's class to help make it even more extra special!

1. Burke Williams - Gift Certificate (more than a $100 value) AND 3-day free spa passes for each gift bag!
2. Trader Joe's - gift bag (valued at almost $45.00)
3. BodyFactory - 1 tanning session ($25.00 value)

The Annual Extra Special Sexy Spin in support of the California AIDS LifeCycle Riders is TOMORROW, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, 7:00am!

Yes, it is that time of year again. Every last week in May, we do a little extra something to send off the amazing and inspiring Riders who will be heading off to San Francisco later this week to begin the Ride of a lifetime! A lifechanging event! A fundraiser like no other! Thousands of Riders have been training for the past 10 months or so. They have also been raising funds by seeking sponsors. Training includes actual road rides almost every weekend. Many supplement their outdoor rides with indoor cycling as well. A fundraising minimum of $3,000 must be met and many far surpass that minimum. Last year, almost 3000 Riders raised over $15 million! Help make this year an even bigger success! Beneficiaries are the Los Angeles LGBT Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Many of the Riders are our fellow members here at Crunch Fitness - Sunset. Many of them you workout alongside everyday. You may know them, but you may not know how much time and effort they have donated for such a worthy cause! In addition to the training and fundraising they have been doing for so long already, they are also taking off 7 days of work on their own time and riding 80-100 miles each day for a total of 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. They leave San Francisco this upcoming Sunday, May 31st and cross the finish line in Los Angeles next Saturday, June 6th. Obviously, this is no small sacrifice. This is no small commitment. This is no small undertaking. So let's show them how much appreciate their time and efforts, their sacrifice and volunteerism, their good hearts and detemined minds! Thanks you 2015 California AIDS LifeCycle Riders! Tomorrow morning's annual Extra Special Sexy Spin is a very small way of showing our appreciation for all that you all have done and are doing! You inspire us! You motivate us! You impress us! You are awesome! Thank you!

What an amazing class full of energy and commitment! This morning's #totalrequestride @crunchgym - Sunset was impressive with it's dedication and desire to making a change! Escaping the "real world" for a 45-minute Ride can be just the boost you need to get through the day or week! I often say, "Check your work, relationship or "real life" problems at the door. The Ride is YOUR time. Nobody else's." No phones. No stress. No boss. Nobody needing anything from you. Nobody beating you over the head with what you must do or have to do or need to do. Escape. Focus. Improve both your physical and mental health and well-being. Work hard. Have fun! Make a difference. Make a change. It's up to you. How much do you want out of it? Only you can make it happen. Come be a part of the Ride with Tommy! Use a few fun, high-energy videos to start off each Wednesday's #totalrequestride. Be in control of your Ride. Then, return to the "real world" refreshed, energized, with a clear mind. Exit the doors of Crunch's spin room with a renewed focus and determination. With a knowledge that you created challenges and obstacles in class, and you OVERCAME them! You exceeded expectations! You created a positive energy that you can carry around with you the rest of the day. You can do it! Just do it! In good health, tommy

Wow! What an amazing Ride with Tommy! This morning's Sexy Spin became a Sexy Superhero Spin as Crunch once again exhibited how it is THE place where fitness meets entertainment! As the movie, The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, opens tonight in late night screenings across the country, Crunch celebrates the superheroes that we encounter everyday...our members, trainers and instructors! Crunch is one of those rare institutions where amazing individuals come together to make a positive difference. Members often want to make a difference in their lives. Trainers and instructors bring their amazing skills and talents to the table to help our members reach their goals and make that positive difference everyday! I believe that everyone who wants to improve their life as well as the lives of others is a superhero! For every positive change that a member makes in both their mental and physical health and well-being, the world becomes a better place. For every person that makes their life healthier and happier, a contribution is made to the world to help make it collectively happier and healthier! This statement may seem grandiose and over-hyped, but I don't think so. So often, we encounter so many things in our lives, in our daily routines, that can bring a person down, frown or feel sad or mad. This happens way too often and way too easy. What a great thing to do to try to help reduce or eliminate these negative instances! In my classes, I try to stress the ability to create a positive energy that can result in a positive change. Yes, it takes hard work, but it can be done. And then I often remind riders as they leave class that not only have they accomplished something extraordinary in class, but that they can carry that positive energy with them all day as they face the "real world" outside of the spinning room doors. In class, we create challenges and obstacles that we overcome, that makes us stronger, that moves us closer to realizing our personal goals. This is such a positive experience! So when we encounter things that may be a little less than postive in the "real world", we can remember what we were able to do in class, the challenges and obstacles that we overcame, the positive energy that we created, the changes and goals that we reached, the expectations that we exceeded. Yes, all of this can happen in a simple spin class. Every little bit can make a big difference. Every positive change can create more positive changes. Every accomplishment builds confidence, hope and strength. We are all amazing. We can all contribute so much. We are all superheroes!

#totalrequestride. Not to be confused with Carson Daly's former hit show, Total Request Live. But just as important and influential, no doubt! Each week, we start class off with some fun and high-energy videos to help you get your heart rate up. To also help you get the edges of your mouth up...into a smile! For all the talk about intensity, challenges, hard work and pain, I still like to create a Ride that allows you to have fun! Who said that it was impossible to get the changes in your body that you work so hard for without smiling, laughing and having fun while doing it?!?! Nobody! So come join us every Wednesday at 9:30am at Crunch Fitness - Sunset. Get to class. Work hard. Make positive changes. Have fun! Tweet your favorite song or video to @crunchgym followed by the hashtage #totalrequestride. The top 3 videos each week will be played in Crunches across the country. (And if you Ride with me here at Crunch Fitness - Sunset, then also include #ridewithtommy or retweet your requests to @ridewithtommy so that I can be sure to include your requests even if it doesn't make it into the national top 3!) Sound like fun? Then let's just do it! See you next Wednesday! In good health, tommy

The new Threshold Ride. We have been offering this new class here at Crunch Fitness - Sunset for only 3 months. Already, I have received so many comments on how the class has transformed the way people Ride and workout. So many people have stopped me and told me how the Threshold Ride really makes them work harder, how seeing the different colors of the percentage zones as well as the numbers themselves provides extra motivation, inspiration and knowledge to commit and focus and truly feel the work AND the results! And that's really what it is all about. No matter how much I, as the instructor, stress proper form, resistance levels, various paces, fun and high energy music, it really boils down to leaving class knowing that you did the best you could and obtained at least some of the results that you entered the class hoping to achieve. So when I see you next time in class, remember to enter the room with goals, a positive attitude and the willingness to grow in both strength and knowledge both personally and as part of a group in a class that provides cutting edge technology and an even better way to monitor your own fitness, workouts and changes! In good health! tommy

Well, we didn't have the video capacity working in class yesterday morning, but we still had a great Ride! Thanks to everyone who made it to class and was a part of 45 minutes of hard work, intensity, commitment, sweat and fun! It takes commitment to make a change. To work toward something that you truly want to achieve. In class, I encourage that commitment. Commitment to proper form. Commitment to the work. Commitment to the workout as I have designed it so that you get the most out of everything that you do. So that you create a positive energy that fills up the room. That pushes and challenges you. That encourages and supports the people around you. So that everyone has the best Ride possible. The most efficient Ride. The most effective Ride. The most productive. The safest. Committing to what I call the three basics: 1) proper form, 2) pace and 3) resistance. Of those 3, form is the most important. As you commit to the best form possible, you insure yourself of a Ride where every little thing you do can make a big difference. A Ride that will move you closer to obtaining results. A Ride that will allow you to work efficiently. In other words, proper form will allow you to work safely while working as hard as you can instead of riding with improper form which can lead to injury immediately or over a period of time. I spend a lot of time talking about proper form and the need to commit to form, pace and resistance. And I want you to work as intensely as you can, no, more than you thought you could! More than you thought possible! And I want you to have fun! Yes, have fun while working so hard that the time in class flies by! So that you leave class confident that you did all that you could to the best of your ability. And that you definitely made a change. A positive change. A change in your mental and physical well-being. In the way you think of yourself. In the way that you see the world around you. Wow. All of that can happen in a spin class? Yes it can. So let's do it! Come join me in the Ride with Tommy! And be sure to check out the track list for this morning's Sexy Spin as well! In good health!

This morning's #totalrequestride was full of videos! We usually play just 3, but this morning we doubled our fun and played 6! So for those that LOVE the videos, "Yay!" For those that don't really care for the videos that much, "Well, I'm sorry." The 3 top requested videos submitted to @crunchgym and #totalrequestride, were Notorious B.I.G.'s "Mo Money Mo Problems", Madonna's "Material Girl", and Pitbull's "Time Of Our Lives". I also had Crunch Fitness - Sunset rider, Glenn, request Neon Trees' "Animal" and Britney Spears' "Womanizer", both great songs and videos. Crunch Fitness - Sunset rider, Jefferson, submitted several requests a couple of weeks ago for cool downs. This morning, we played the Maribou State remix of Fatboy Slim's "Praise You", which made me think of how much I love the original version as a great jog. Thus, we here the original in class as well! I also want to mention that a hot new artist, Steve Grand, is about to release his debut album. You probably know him from all the news that surrounded the release of the video for his single, "All-American Boy". Back on the July 4th weekend in 2013, Steve's video hit Youtube and became an instant sensation. He was labeled the first "out" gay country artist, though he didn't really fit into any labels at all, not really country, and like so many of us, not just "gay" but so much more! Well, after almost 2 years of work on his album, the time has finally come! For his Kickstarter backers, we were able to download his album a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't wait to play some of his amazing music. His album is available for pre-order on iTunes now! And it is already #14 on iTunes alongside Madonna, Kelly Clarkson (who has the Number 1 album on Billboard this week!), Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, etc. This is all so exciting! So check him out if you haven't already. And thanks to everyone who joined us in this morning's #totalrequestride. Today, we had one of the all too rare occasions where Crunch Fitness - Sunset had a very special class to help raise awareness and funds for an amazing cause, Augie's Quest. This is an organization that Crunch has teamed up with for several years now to raise much needed money to help fight and hopefully find a cure for ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease. Members were asked to visit a special website created just for this partnership, http://www.loveyourmuscles.com to reserve a spot in class. Each reservation required a $35.00 donation, 100% of which went directly to Augie's Quest! I was fortunate enough to be one of the 3 instructors that led this class as a team. I worked with the amazing Amy Rollman and Matt Conrad! We each taught for 25 minutes (hence my shortened track list above!) for a total of a very special 75-minute class! It was awesome! We had a great time putting this together, and I believe everyone who showed up and took part in such an amazing event, left feeling thoroughly exhausted from the work out and/yet uplifted and positive due to the great cause that was the reason for the occasion to begin with!

This morning's Sexy Spin track list was the same as yesterday's #totalrequestride's track list. Once again, there were a few pivotal choices for my track list this week that helped me shape the complete list and made me excited to share it with my riders in both classes! There's really not much cross-over between the two classes, as far as riders go, since one is at 9:30am and the other is at 7:00am. There are a few faces that do make it to both, and I am so inspired when I see those committed and dedicated faces. I am humbled and inspired and motivated and energized! So for those that do happen to take both of my classes at different times, I try to mix up the workout that goes along with these track lists. Yes, choosing the music is a big...HUGE!...part of the make up of a class, but there is also so much more that goes into it. Along with every decision to choose a particular beat, there is the choice to perform a specific challenge to that beat. That beat must provide a rhythm that is easy to follow and that allows riders to "get on the pace" and keep that pace while performing that challenge. I also feel that a good instructor has the ability to be present in the class so that an option or a different challenge can also be presented to the class if necessary. This option is most often realized in an instant as a class is surveyed and determined to need a change or that the option is better suited for that particular class. As I have been providing some "behind the scenes" information regarding track list selection the past few weeks, I feel like that today, I also want to mention that it is not the music alone that is chosen. It is the music, the beat, the rhythm, the cadence, the power, the energy that must drive the action or the challenge. When the music and the action come together and provide that power and energy, it is almost like magic. And the instructor can feel or sense when this comes together, or when this magic happens. And that is amazing! So, now back to the music. I want to thank member/rider Glenn for his request for this week's #totalrequestride, "I Say Nothing" by Voice Of The Beehive. A flashback and so much fun! I also felt it was time to play Madonna's new song, "Living For Love". In the #totalrequestride, I actually played video of her performance at this year's Grammys which was one of the highlights of the show! I recently heard Isaac Hayes' song, "Don't Let Go" and it reminded me how fun it is and how great it could be in class. I always like to provide a combination of oldies and goodies along with today's greatest hits (wow! that sounds like promotional material for a radio station!). In fact, I always try to play a variety of music so that hopefully, at least at one point in class, almost everyone will hear a song that particularly moves, inspires and motivates them. To work harder. Or just to have more fun! To go back to being current and relevant to today's pop culture, I played "Earned It" by The Weeknd from the "Fifty Shades Of Grey" soundtrack as a cooldown. Also as the second cool down song, I played another song that benefits the (RED) organization, founded by U2's Bono to help create an AIDS-free generation. Coca-Cola and (RED) are using the universal language of music to raise awareness and funds for the fight to end mother-to-child transmission of HIV. The “Share the Sound of an AIDS FREE GENERATION” campaign, which kicked off last November and ran through World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, 2014, aimed to help Millennials understand they can be the generation to end the AIDS pandemic. Each week for 4 weeks, a new single was released by a different artist. I have already played the special (RED) Remix of OneRepublic's hit, "I Lived" which samples the vintage Coca-Cola commercial tagline, "I'd like to teach the world to sing". Today, I played Wyclef Jean and Avicii's "Divine Sorrow". A great song for a great cause. And played in class yesterday and today full of great riders trying to do great things! Finally, and also as a way to battle the AIDS pandemic, Annie Lennox released the charity song, "Sing" back in 2007. After hearing Nelson Mandela speak of the dire situation caused by AIDS, she decided to do all that she could to help bring awareness to HIV/AIDS crisis. This song features Annie along with 23 prominent female artists including Madonna, Anastacia, Dido, Céline Dion, Melissa Etheridge, Fergie, Faith Hill, Gladys Knight, k.d. lang, Sarah McLachlan, Pink, Bonnie Raitt, and Shakira. Amazing! And it is such a fun song to run to! I am excited to include it as part of my track list! So that's a little of what went on in the making of this week's track list. I hope you all enjoyed riding to it as much as I enjoyed putting it all together! Now let's go create a little magic! See you in class!

This morning we celebrated the birthday of regular rider Jason! Thanks for providing requests that made up most of the track list! And thanks for starting off your special day and celebrating with the Ride with Tommy! I'm looking forward to doing it all again next year!

And it wasn't officially requested by the newlywed himself, but it was Felix's first class back after getting legally married to his partner of more than 10 years last weekend in Palm Springs! Congratulations, Felix! Welcome back!

Do you have something special to celebrate? A birthday? An anniversary? A special charity event? Let me know! I'll try to work an entire class around it by playing your requests!

I'll be here for the next Threshold Ride tomorrow/Saturday morning at 9:45am. Hope to see you then!

In good health,

tommy

I hope everyone is having an amazing day off! And if you are working on this holiday, don't fret! I will be teaching at 7:00am tomorrow morning so that you can get your workout on early before work! This morning's Ride was a Threshold Ride and once again each individual rider set their own threshold and then continued to work as a percentage of their threshold! It is individual. As always, you are accountable for your own workout and just how hard you commit to the Ride, the challenges, and the intensity. But we, the instructor and Crunch's newest class technology, provide you with the format or the path to follow and a means to measure your commitment or the power with which you Ride! The Threshold Ride is also an opportunity to learn more about your workouts and about your body as it reacts to your own workout. And it is also a group workout. It is a group fitness class. So everyone must commit to their own individual Ride, but by being a part of a group, everyone can also benefit from the amazing and positive energy that is created when a group Rides together and creates and commits to challenges and opportunities to work harder and to make bigger and more positive changes...in their Rides, their workouts, in their results, and in their lives. Yes, it can all happen right here, in a Ride with Tommy! at Crunch Fitness - Sunset! Come join the group! Come make a change! Come see what all the excitement is about! I look forward to seeing you!
