This morning's track list was a new one in honor of Bergen's 51st birthday! Happy birthday, Bergen! She requested Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love which kind of set off a rock theme. A friend had introduced me to a new German DJ's mashup site which included some rock mashups which ended up being perfect for today's class. I have to be honest, I was a little nervous as to how it would turn out, but thanks to everyone who worked so hard and appeared to have a great time doing so! And thanks to those who offered the compliments on the class!

I also want to give a special shout out to my friend, Blue Hamilton. I have known Blue for several years and never knew of his dreams to be a singer. Well, last week, he emailed me his first single and I have to say, it is amazingly beautiful! Thanks to Blue for letting me use it as a cool down this morning, and I wish him the best of luck in his new endeavors following his dreams!

Extra Special Sexy Spin This Thursday, May 27, 2010 7:00am!

It's that time again where I put together a special class. It's sort of a "Thank you!" for everyone who regularly spins with me, but it is also a way to kind of mix things up and keep it exciting. Once again, the ride will be the same intense ride that you have come to expect. I will still focus on correct form. And I will, as always, play a variety of fun and motivational music.

However, this time and as always in these special classes, there will be special guests riding in class. I will play special music (even more special than usual!) And there will be gift bags for everyone in class. And we will draw bike numbers at the end of class to give away a few special prizes.

And as always, when we have this much fun, I like to bring attention to a worthwhile cause. This time, we will hopefully be raising the awareness of the California AIDS LifeCycle Ride to End AIDS! More specifically, I want to give as much attention and support to Crunch members, Ride with Tommy! regulars, and friends that are taking part in the ride.

Okay, today is one of those rare occurances when I replayed the same track list from this past Thursday's class. I used to do it all of the time until I realized that many of those taking the 7:00am Thursday morning class also took the 9:30am Saturday morning class. So, since then, I have tried to mix it up more often. I really make an effort to NOT play the same track list 2 classes in a row (at the same time period). However, after asking by show of hands how many people were there in class today that were also there in class this past Thursday and determining that the number was rather low, I decided to play the same cd again. Besides, it was full of new music, I spent a lot of time putting it together, and I really enjoyed riding to it. I hope everyone else did!

As I posted earlier, we are having an exciting day on Monday. Celebrating, introducing, promoting, reporting, learning, excercising, returning, sweating, and having fun! I've included the earlier post below with all the information. But we need your help! There will be news cameras and crew at Crunch on Monday morning for two reports at a time when there is no class: 8:30 and 9:10. Do you want to help out? Do you want to be on the local news? Do you just want to be on TV? Do you want video footage to add to your reel? Well, now is your chance! Red Line Ride featured as a Case Study on Suunto's International Website!

As most of you who have taken one of my classes are aware, we are using a new technology from a company called Suunto in the Red Line Ride, a heart rate based training program currently offered at Crunch. Suunto is a world-wide company specializing in sports precision instruments that help athletes at all levels analyze and improve their performance. Crunch was the first place in the world where this program was offered as part of an indoor cycling class.

If you haven't heard, the Red Line Ride is where you can purchase or loan a heart rate monitor from Crunch, wear it during a Ride (indoor cycling) class, and see your heart rate projected on a screen at the front of the class (under a nickname so no one else has to know exactly what you are doing!) It is an excellent way to see how your heart rate is really affected by the activity that you are doing during a Ride class. You can see your heart rate go up and down. You can see the zone or percentage range of your estimated maximum heart rate in which you are working. You can get an idea of how many total calories you burn in a class.

Suunto recently contacted me and had me provide them with answers to their questions as well as my opinions on how the program was going. Recently, Crunch has begun to offer any of the classes on its schedule as a private class for anyone who wants to celebrate a special occasion. Today's event was thrown by Colin to celebrate his birthday. Colin was able to ride and sweat with his closest friends (whether they were a member of Crunch or not!) to music that he requested. Crunch provided the place, the instructor (me!) and the gift bags! Rockstar and Starbucks also contributed to the gift bags. A great time was had by all 25 of us! Happy birthday, Colin!
