This morning's class featured music from the upcoming independent feature, "Leave It On The Floor" written and produced by Ride with Tommy! regular, Glenn Gaylord. Glenn provided 3 tracks to the soundtrack of his movie that will screen this Saturday, June 18th and next Wednesday, June 22nd as part of the LA Film Festival. "Leave It On The Floor" will also screen in next month's Outfest on Saturday, July 16th. Congrats to Glenn for completing the long and exhausting task of realizing your dream on the big screen and thanks so much for allowing the Ride with Tommy! to world premiere some of the music from your movie!

Thanks to all who attended and helped make the Extra Special Sexy Spin so much fun and such a success!
Thanks to everyone who attended last Thursday's Extra Special Sexy Spin class and helped make it so much fun! As I always do, I had such a great time putting together the music, the guests, the prizes and the gift bags. And I always find it rewarding to help - in even the smallest of ways - bring awareness to amazing causes or organizations.

LIFEWORKS (http://www.lifeworksla.org) - a youth development program at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center offering one on one, peer, and group mentoring opportunitiesfor for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth ages 12-24. LifeWorks helps LGBTQ youth to realize their dreams with a safe space, affirming role models, and fun worthwhile activities. Special thanks to Michael and Steven for not only being there, but for providing tickets to the Laugh Out Loud fundraiser held this past Sunday night which were given away as prizes in the drawings at the end of class!
2. BABY DRAGON FUND (http://www.babydragon180ride.org) - developed to raise funds to provide mental health and crystal meth recovery services, as well as to help LGBT youth. After the tragic loss of a loved one (whose nickname was Baby Dragon), family and friends created The Baby Dragon Fund to help those in our community, especially youth, find alternatives when dealing with addiction and mental health issues. The Baby Dragon 180 Ride was established to enhance the funding of these very important programs.
Thanks to Jeremy Basset, lead singer of the new band SKYROCKET LOVE who attended the Ride and along with his wife, Gayle, and publicist, Scott Harden, helped organize it and contributed to the gift bags.
Thanks to special guest Brian Worley, the wedding planner for the CW Network's SHREDDING FOR THE WEDDING which airs on Wednesday nights at 9:00pm pst, immediately following America's Next Top Model!
Thanks also to Jesse Jordan, JD from Season 3 of BRAVO Network's WORKOUT. Jesse not only attended and added so much sexiness to the Extra Special Sexy Spin class, he, as a Certified Massage Therapist, offered $25 off of a one-hour massage to everyone who attended the class. He also provided a free half-hour massage as a prize given away to lucky Ride with Tommy! regular, Muchin, when I drew her bike number!
And finally, thanks to all of the businesses and individuals who contributed to the gift bags and the prizes awarded at the drawings at the end of class:
1. Starbucks - be sure to visit manager Laura and her awesome staff as a thanks for once again providing the actual bags which held all the goodies in the gift bags provided for each rider in attendance!
2. Rockstar Energy Drinks - thanks to Chelsea for once again coming through and providing free samples of their newest flavors in each of the gift bags!
3. Veggie Grill - thanks to Kelly who not only provided gift cards redeemable for a side order of sweetheart fries in each gift bag, she also provided a $10 gift card to be given away as a prize in the end of class drawings!
4. CAUGHT - The Play which is now playing at the Zephyr Theatre on Melrose and once again extended through May! Two tickets were provided for the end of class drawings. I recently saw this play and it is amazing with an awesome cast and a very important message! Go see it as soon as you can!

As I explained at class, Michael works at Barney's and wanted to provide a skin care gift basket (valued at $300!). However, at class time, the gift basket was in the process of being stolen. I say "in the process" as it was taken and removed from the office location where I was holding it, but was found hidden away in another location after class. So, I apologize to everyone that the bag was not available to be awarded at the Extra Special Sexy Spin last Thursday. However, I have already spoken with Michael, and we will be giving it away at the next special class in May which will be help to promote all of the riders taking part in the historic California LifeCycle 10th-Anniversary ride in June. Extra Special Sexy Spin Tomorrow Thursday March 17, 2011 at 7:00am!
If you've been in class the last couple of weeks, you have heard me announce that tomorrow will be another one of my "extra special" classes that I do 3 or 4 times a year. These usually coincide timing wise with a special event that I feel is worthy of helping spread the word about a particular cause or function. Tomorrow is no different.
As with all "extra special" classes, there will be special guests, special music, and special prizes, all to help raise awareness for the especially worthwhile cause.
And also as with all "extra special" classes, we do not sacrifice the intensity of the Ride! We will still have the same intense Ride that you have become accustomed to or to expect, that will not change. I know a lot of you still need to get your workout and then get to work. No worries! I plan an even more fun Ride using the special music and then draw bike numbers for prizes at the end of class. And we have some really great prizes this time! Thanks to all who contributed!

1. First, I want to mention the track titled, "One Life One Chance" by the band H20. Rusty who frequents the Ride with Tommy! along with his wife, Debby, plays for H20. They will be performing at the Roxy this Sunday night. The show starts at 7:00pm but they probably won't be going on until around 9:00pm. Travis Barker of Blink 182 will be playing with them. And the show benefits the project called "One Life One Choice" created by Toby Morse, lead singer of H20. For more information, visit the website by clicking here! He will be performing at Dennis Hensley's (another Ride with Tommy! regular!) "Village Variety Pack" at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center's Renberg Theatre on Monday night, February 6th at 8pm. Also in the same show, Nadeya Ward, yet another Ride with Tommy! frequenter, will be performing as well. I have played several of Nadeya's songs in class, one as recently as last week! Thanks to Ryan for subbing my class at last minute!
As most of you that showed up this morning know, I was unable to teach this morning's Red Line Ride at 9:30. I had a family emergency at 9:00 that prevented me from doing so. Everything is fine now. Thanks to everyone that asked, texted, emailed and messaged me.

For the fourth year in a row, we kick off the new year looking back at the previous year...or listening to it...with DJ Earworm's mashup of the top 25 songs of the year 2010 according to Billboard. DJ Earworm was one of the first deejays to lead me into the world of "mashups" and I now wholeheartedly embrace their use in class as a way to make classes more fun and high energy. DJ Earworm has an amazing talent for "blending" different songs - even genres! - together into a seamless soundtrack to inspire and motivate riders to the next level, a higher level, where they are giving more than they thought they were going to, more than they thought they could! That's what I like to see! And I'm including DJ Earworm's amazing video of the United State Of Pop (Don't Stop The Pop) here so you can see it and enjoy it, too!

"Yet another installment in what has become an annual New Year’s tradition. It’s the United State of Pop, which mashes up the Top 25 songs of the year, according to Billboard magazine.
In 2010, pop has gone into serious all-out party mode. In 2009 the music was encouraging us to pick ourselves back up after being knocked down again, and to rock out to some great dance music while you’re at it. This year’s music tells us to keep going now that we’re up and having fun. In fact, the fun seems to be in such overdrive that it borders on recklessness. Usher urges us to ‘dance like it’s the last night of your life”, and Katy Perry wants us to “run away and don’t ever look back”. Even the songs that aren’t about parties have parties in their videos, like this year’s entries from Mike Posner and Lady Antebellum.

I'd also like to highlight one of my new favorite songs of any kind! Yes, it is a mashup, but it is really hard to tell that it is. Yes, it is a ballad, but is an absolutely beautiful cool down. And yes, it comes from a somewhat surprising source...one of the hottest pop stars of the year and a rock band with a former teen hearthrob as the lead singer. I'm talking about DJ Sergio's mashup, "Not Like A Queen" featuring Katy Perry and 30 Second to Mars. The blend of Katy Perry's "Not Like The Movies" and the 30 Second to Mars single "Kings & Queens" is more like a haunting, smooth, soulful, beautiful duet than it is a mashup. And yes, the lead singer of 30 Second to Mars is Jared Leto, formerly the teen hearthrob and Claire Dane's crush in the critically lauded, poorly rated and thusly short-lived TV series, "My So-Called Life" also starring former Crunch member, Wilson Cruz in a ground breaking role. WOW! I can't begin to describe how excited I am about this morning's class. Though there were a few bumps along the road in the preparation for this class, it all came together and because of all of you, it turned out better than I could have imagined! The turnout was perfect - a sold out class without turning anyone away! The music turned out to be so much fun (thankfully as I stayed up almost all night putting it together!) And the clothing drive resulted in an amount of clothes to be given to Out Of The Closet (operated by the AIDS Health Foundation) which was probably more than 3 times what was given the last time we did this. WOW! I can't thank all of you enough for your support of this morning's Special Holiday Sexy Spin and your continued support of the Ride with Tommy! You all make it so rewarding and worthwhile for me. I am truly blessed to be doing something I enjoy so much that is also good for so many of us. So again I say thank you, Merry Christmas, and happy holidays to you all!

Make plans now to attend the last Special Sexy Spin class of the year (actually the last Sexy Spin of the year!) tomorrow morning, Thursday, December 16th at 7:00am! And thanks to so many people who showed up for both classes, whether you were doing a double (as so many of you were!) or if you were able to just take one of the two classes, it was amazing having you there! And thanks to everyone who took part in the Red Line Ride part of class. I hope everyone was able to see how their heart rates react to the different workouts that we go through during the Ride. Not only did everyone (hopefully!) get an intense workout, but I think everyone learned a little more about heart rate based training and how important it can be as a part of your overall workout program. Today marks the 4-year anniversary of the Ride With Tommy! blog or website. I can't believe it has been 4 years already! If you haven't already, there is still time and spaces left for the next and 3rd session of the CAMP CRUNCH: Red Line Ride 6-Week Intensive. The program begins with the first semi-private class on Tuesday morning, October 12th from 8:15-9:00am! The 6-week program concludes on Saturday, November 20th. Come and take a back-to-back Double Red Line Ride class this Saturday of Labor Day Weekend at Crunch on Sunset beginning at 8:30am (I am subbing for John who is out of town) and then continuing through my regular 9:30am class. Wear a special heart rate monitor that displays your heart rate on a screen at the front of the class! I hope to see you there!
