Threshold Ride! without the Threshold. I apologize for not having the technology in place for our Threshold Ride this morning. We discovered yesterday what has been causing the problems with the new technology for the past week or so. We are hoping to have it repaired in the next week. We appreciate your patience and understanding! And don't worry! We will be back to setting our thresholds and reaching for our peak perfomance while even riding to your total requests before you know it! And in spite of not having the amazing threshold technology this morning, everyone in class this morning was amazing! Thanks for your commitment, determination, focus, positive energy and willingness to work hard - even intensely! - and yet still have fun! 'Cuz that is what we did this morning! We worked hard! We made a difference! We made changes! We reached goals! And we had fun! We even went over for an extra bonus ride! So thanks to everyone in class this morning and if you weren't there, I hope to see you in class soon! In good health, tommy!

Have fun while you work out! That is a goal of each of my #totalrequestride classes @crunchgym. We play fun, high energy music videos at the beginning of class each week. Just to get the blood pumpin', the energy up, the bodies warmed up and ready to work out! Then we get down to business and focus on the work! I try to include fun in all of my classes here at Crunch Fitness - Sunset...even while we focus so much of our energy on the intensity and the work. To make the time that you are struggling go by so much faster! Instead of getting all bogged down in the weight of what you are supposed to do and what you are supposed to be accomplishing, I feel it is crucial to lighten things up a bit at the same time. So that you don't get frustrated. So that you don't get bored. So that you don't quit. The music is usually the primary catalyst for adding the fun. But even a quick, light comment to make you smile or even laugh can provide that slight, brief, momentary "distraction" - not from the form, pace, resistance or movement - but from the intensity of the challenge. Just for a split second. Just for fun. Just to change things up a bit. And if you can smile while you work out, then I think that's all the better! Of course, none of this is to take away from the necessary work! In no way is this intended to mean that my classes are too light or too much about the fun or even just for beginners! Absolutely not! It is my job as the instructor to create a class that is accessible as possible to beginners but at the same time, as challenging as possible for the experienced riders! Yes, I love to welcome newcomers to class and I feel it is extremely important to spend a little extra time helping them get set up correctly as well as to teach them proper form. I want them to get as much out of their first classes as I want experienced riders to get out of theirs! I want newcomers to come back and eventually be experienced riders! So I feel it is my job to do as much of this as I can in each of my classes. I feel it is vital for me as an instructor to welcome, help, train and challenge those new to spinning as well as it is to push the he!! out of those that have been spinning for a while! And of course, adding a little levity to the process to help everyone get results and have a good time is also a requirement for me. I want to make you sweat! I want to make you smile! I want you to make those changes in your mind and in your body that you are so willing to work so hard for! So come and work out and smile in the Ride with Tommy! Hope to see you all in class soon! Until then, in good health! tommy

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night..." Los Angeles rarely gets snow, and we are certainly in desperate need of rain, but we got some this morning! Lightning, thunder and rain! It was so nice! But yet, that didn't stop so many of you from trudging through it all and making it to class! You guys were awesome! And I guess we could add "...nor technical difficulties!" as once again, we ran into some technical difficulties...this time trying to start the Threshold Ride program. I am so sorry that the program wasn't working this morning, but I am so grateful and impressed by those of you that stayed and continued to work hard and achieve your goals! Impressive. Inspiring. Dedicated. Challenged. Focused. Results-oriented. I can't state accurately or often enough how I am continuously impressed by your dedication and commitment. I ask for commitment in class and I get it back in droves! And when so much can get in the way (i.e. the rain, thunder, lightning, technical issues, etc.), it is always so nice to see that the heart and passion of you riders overcomes it all. Wow. Color me happy. Impressed. Humbled. Inspired. So I look forward to seeing you all next time! Until then, in good health, tommy

I am proud of the accomplishment of the decision that the Supreme Court handed down yesterday. I am proud of everyone who fought so hard to get us where we are today. I am proud of my family. I am proud of the riders that work so hard in my classes 6 days a week. I am proud of everyone who lives their life to the fullest. Of everyone that strives to make their lives better. Todrick Hall @toddyrockstar just released his new single and video, "Low" which is so great and so much fun! Todrick, a Crunch member, is one of the most multi-talented people I know! If you haven't yet, check out his many YouTube videos! Crazy talented! And speaking of crazy talented, it happens to be the amazingly talented @DebbyHoliday Debby Holiday's birthday today! She is one of the most beautiful people inside and out! I have loved and played her music for a long time in my classes, and today I played her most recent single, "Lift". Happy birthday, Debby! Finally, I am a huge fan of Giorgio Moroder's music. Yes, he was a huge hitmaker in the 70s and 80s including songs by Donna Summer (Last Dance, MacArthur Park, No More Tears, I Feel Love), Blondie (Call Me), Irene Cara (What A Feelin'), Limahl (lead singer of Kajagoogoo's solo hit, "The Neverending Story"), and Kenny Loggins (Danger Zone). Well he just released his first album in over 30 years and it is amazing! He has produced songs featuring the vocals of Kylie Minogue (Right Here, Right Now), Sia (the title cut, Deja Vu), Britney Spears (a remake of Suzanne Vega's Tom's Diner) and more! I hope all of you had as much fun riding to this morning's track list as I had putting it together. Thank you as always for your support and for trusting me with the opportunity to help you change your body, improve your physical and mental fitness, and reach your personal fitness goals. It is an honor that I do not take lightly! So feel proud of what you accomplished in class this morning, share the positive energy that you created in class with people that you encounter throughout the day, and make plans to do it all again! In good health, tommy

Well the new Peak Performance Ride is off to a strong start on Tuesday mornings at 7:00am @crunchgym - Sunset! Now don't let that fancy title scare you off. Like I have been saying in class, the class is not really that much different from what you are used to. However, we are slowly introducing a little bit more resistance work a little bit at a time. The idea is to more accurately simulate an actual road ride that incorporates true hills. And to make it even better, we have the new technology that allows us to see or monitor our workouts on huge, big-screen tv's at the front of class. You can see a number that represents the actual power that you are exerting while working so hard. You can see the actual rpm's (revolutions per minute) that you are actually pedaling. You can see where you rank in regards to the other riders in class. All of this is to help motivate you and to provide you with more information regarding your workout. And hopefully with more information, you will learn more about your workout and how your body reacts to your workout as well as the challenges and obstacles that you create and overcome in class! Now doesn't that sound exciting? It is! Again, class is not radically different. We still warm up, jog, add movements, climb hills, run and cool down. We just add a little more resistance or "hill work" into the mix and are able to visually monitor what you are doing while doing it! Come check it out! Thanks as always for your support of the Ride with Tommy! and all the newest classes @crunchgym - Sunset that incorporate the latest, cutting-edge technology to help you get the best, most challenging and fun ride possible! In good health, tommy

A lot of fun and high energy music is being released right now. So this morning's class featured some of that. Fun. High energy. New music. A few new remixes. A couple of songs that currently have news-making videos going viral due to the lavish productions and numerous and high-profile guests featured in them. A definite British influence on this track list, including a song that I discovered on my recent vacation in London. Some of my kids' favorites. And a request from a Ride with Tommy! regular who will be celebrating his birthday tomorrow, A.J. Happy birthday A.J.! I hope its the best ever! Thanks for your birthday request and for your long and continued support of the Ride with Tommy! Thanks to everyone for your support of my classes. I am truly grateful and honored that you include my classes in the pursuit of the healthiest you possible! Improving your mental and physical health and well-being one pedal stroke at a time. I hope that all of you do indeed leave class feeling better about yourself, thinking clearer, experiencing positive energy, and confident that you made a difference in your life. There is a lot that goes into the preparation of a spin class. There is a lot that can make it a pleasurable (as pleasurable as can be for a workout!) and rewarding experience. An important part of that experience is the music. I always try to provide fun, high-energy and popular music that represents a variety of styles so that everyone in class can relate and benefit from their favorite song, artist or genre at one point. It is my job as the instructor to make class as challenging as possible for experienced riders, as assessible as possible for newcomers, and always as fun, high-energy, positive, intense and distraction-free as possible. These are my goals for every class. I do not take your trust and my responsibility lightly. I hope that my goals are met for you, the rider. I always look forward to our 45-minute journeys together. Thanks for the opportunity. I hope to see you in class (again) soon! Until then, in good health, tommy

So this morning's Threshold Ride became a Threshold Pride Ride! As you can easily see by glancing at my track list, there was a definite theme. Pride. Celebrate. Perfect. As we celebrate Pride here in Los Angeles, I wanted to take the opportunity in this morning's class to highlight musically what we are celebrating. What we should be proud of. Ourselves. No matter who you are. No matter what you are. No matter where you come from. No matter who you love. Each of us is so important. So awesome. So amazing. So worth it! We have traveled a long way to get to where we are today. We have a long way to go, but there is so much to celebrate! And there is so much to look forward to! So let's emphasize the positive! Spend less time being afraid or tearing down those that may be different. Spend more time loving everyone for what they can contribute. And everyone can contribute something positive to society. And the easiest and best way to do that is to start by just loving each other. Loving yourself. Yes, it can all be taken down to the most basic thing...love. So just do it. Just love it! Just love each other. Just love you! Be confident. Work as hard as you can to be the best you can be. Then, stand up for what you so strongly believe. For what you deserve. Fairness. Equality. Love from others. So let's get this celebration started! You are born this way so be proud! I got my pride and it is a deeper love for all of us! Don't be afraid to express yourself. You are perfect, and you are so worth it! Happy Pride everyone! Celebrate! Be safe! Be kind! Love!
