This morning's class was a great big celebration! Not only did we celebrate the fact that we were all physically and mentally there in class and able to work out and challenge ourselves as much as we possibly can (which is a fact that we should never take for granted!), we also celebrated some lifetime milestones of a few Ride with Tommy! regulars! Happy birthday to Maureen! Maureen has celebrated at least 8 birthdays with the Ride with Tommy! And she has even celebrated a few anniversaries of her 36-year marriage to her husband Larry with us! And speaking of anniversaries, Phil and Allison will be celebrating theirs before too long as they just recently were engaged! How great is that!?!? Thanks to Maureen, Phil and Allison for sharing their very special milestones with us, and I wish you all many many more years of love and happiness and health!

So this morning's track list intrigued me. I have been focusing on all new music lately after my month full of Awesome '80s Wednesdays in August. And there has been so much new and great music released just recently. However, I took a look at this morning's track list and while all the music is new, the artists sure provide quick an eclectic mix of today and yesterday. From the perennial favorite, Cher, duetting with the larger-than-life life-force, Lady Gaga, to the oh-so-controversial Miley Cyrus to...dare I say it?...wait for it...THE VILLAGE PEOPLE?!?! Yes, The Village People have released a new song! And it is kinda fun! There is even Michael Jackson (with one of his last recordings before he died) duetting with Justin Bieber! Now, that duet obviously happened via technology and I believe was available by a leak online for a very short period of time. Yet, I have it here for you today! (shhhh!) Finally, I have also included the new single from a former Crunch member and "Ride with Tommy!-er", Emrhys Cooper. Emrhys is an amazing talent and talented in so many ways! In this morning's class, we celebrate Rusty & Debbie's 11th anniversary! Their actual anniversary is this Friday, but Rusty is leaving to go on tour with his band, H20, in Europe on Thursday. So Rusty gave me some requests of Debbie's favorite music and wanted to surprise her with this very sweet, thoughtful and romantic gesture in class today. This morning, I taught my regularly scheduled class at 9:30am and then subbed Bob Harper's 10:30am class. So, it ended up being a back-to-back, double Pride Ride! As I usually do on the weekend of Los Angeles Pride, I play music that may be a little more apropos to the weekend...music that speaks (or sings) of pride, being proud, believing in yourself, self-empowerment, strength as well as some music that is a little more fun and even silly! My goal is to incorporate all this while still providing an intense workout for newcomers and experienced riders alike! I hope everyone had a great workout this morning. I know I did. And I owe it all to those of you who committed and created so much energy that made us all stronger...not only yourselves, but all of the others around you in class! So this morning's Extra Special Sexy Spin was once again to honor, support, encourage, promote and thank our friends and fellow Crunch members who are leaving next week for the annual California AIDS Lifecycle ride...a 545-mile bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The riders ride about 80 miles per day for 7 days. They have to take off of work for these 7 days. They have been training for this ride for at least the past 6 months. And they have been fundraising for at least the past 6 months and most quite possibly for the past year! This is no easy task! It takes amazing commitment, determination, desire and sacrifice. That is why it is my pleasure and definitely the least I can do to provide an Extra Special Sexy Spin each year to show our love and gratitude to these amazing riders.
