Thanks to everyone for their notes of concern. Yes, I was in an car accident on the way to teach class yesterday, Monday, September 19, 2016. I was just a few minutes away from Crunch, and Crunch was my first call after the accident and even before I exchanged information with the other driver. Fortunately, Guy B. was at the gym and was able to step right in and sub my class for me. Thanks Guy B! Also fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. Whew. There was quite an impact, but the damage was not too extensive (we were both still able to drive our cars). And finally, fortunately, it was not my fault. Whew again. I mean, I'm not glad that it was the other driver's fault. I really wish it would never have happened. And even if it isn't your fault nowadays, just the fact that you were in an accident is such a (figurative) pain with your insurance and repairs. Ugh. Well, I'm fine and ready to ride again! For those of you that have taken my classes over any length of time, you know that I like to celebrate the events and happenings in our lives that are positive. And in yesterday's Threshold Ride, we certainly had something positive to celebrate! Joelle celebrated her birthday and recovery from breast cancer! Two life events that are definitely worth celebrating! Happy birthday and congrats on beating cancer, Joelle! So happy for you and grateful to see you back in class! I look forward to riding with you for a long time to come!

Also, I announced in class both yesterday and this morning that Crunch has just introduced a 12-week Get Fit Challenge! I just signed up for it yesterday. Won't you join me? Set your goals and crush them! Personal training sessions, weekly bootcamps, nutrition plans, cash prizes & more! Ask me, the front desk, any sales rep or your favorite personal trainer for more details! Tell them I sent you! $199 for the entire 12 weeks! Let's do this!

And as far as the music goes, well, you know that I always like to celebrate with music. Last week we observed Labor Day. So it should come as no surprise that I incorporated a few "work" related songs. My favorite is a mashup by DJ Andy Wu featuring songs that will make you sweat by Britney, Fifth Harmony, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, Jennifer Lopez, Olivia Newton-John, and many others. I hope you enjoyed it, too! And my current obsession is the new version of the Black Eyed Peas hit from 2003 retitled "#wheresthelove?". I love the way the song has been redone (almost more than I liked the original version!) The song and video are filled with guest appearances from so many of the hottest artists and other well-known figures of today including the amazing voices of Mary J. Blige, Andra Day, Usher, Jessie J, Nicole Scherzinger and Justin Timberlake as well as the brief flash of instantly recognizable faces of Lance Bass, Connie Britton, Quincy Jones, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and (former Texas A&M football player, former Dancing with the Star contestant, current Denver Bronco and last year's Super Bowl MVP) Von Miller! Unfortunately, this song's message is as relevant now as it was back in 2003 when the song was written following the horrible events of 9/11 in 2001. Fortunately, will.i.am has brought the message back and is committing all proceeds to his i.am.angel Foundation, a non-profit foundation that is transforming lives through education, inspiration and opportunity.

This morning's Ride with Tommy! was in part a celebration of Trent's birthday! Happy birthday Trent! Thanks for your support of the Ride with Tommy! It is such a pleasure having you in class. Thanks for your energy and dedication! Many of the songs played in class this morning were requests made by Trent of his favorite songs. I enjoyed putting this track list together. I hope everyone had a great time as they worked hard and made a positive difference in their bodies, their minds and their workouts! Let's keep making those changes! Let's keep celebrating the years that we add to our lives! Let's keep making those added years full of health and happiness! Yes, it all can start right here in a Ride with Tommy! There's so much to celebrate in life. There is so much good in the world. Let's not get caught up in all that can go wrong. Let's focus on the positive, on what we can do to make life better for ourselves and for others! Work hard to create that positive energy in class which can lead to positive changes in yourself. Then, share that positive energy with others. We can all make a difference in the world. Let's make that difference a positive one! One that can improve your life and the lives of the people around you. I try to create the environment in my classes that is conducive to making positive change. I want riders to look forward to the Ride, to look forward to an intense workout. I also want riders to trust that the ride will be safe, form-focused and fun! That's right, an intense workout that is fun. I choose music that hopefully almost everyone in class may know or recognize (yes, songs with lyrics! words, not just beats!) Feel free to sing along! Having fun will make the time that you are working out move so much faster. Before you know it, class will be over and you will be feeling the results of an intense, form-focused and fun Ride! Celebrate those results! Share the positive energy! Celebrate your birthday! Work (and workout) hard so that you can enjoy life even more! I will do my best to help you make it happen!
