Make your plans now to attend the 10th Annual Extra Special "Give the Shirt Off Your Back" Sexy Spin coming up next Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 7:00am. That's right, we are celebrating 10 year of this famous (or infamous!) annual tradition. Not only will we have an extra special class with extra special music and extra special guests and extra special prizes, but we will, as has become a huge part of the tradition, bring clothing to donate to the LA LGBT Center's Homeless Youth Program. Clean out your closets and bring your slightly used or new items of clothing that can help a homeless youth get back on their feet or to build a solid foundation upon which to create a life ready for success, happiness, kindness and respect! But even if you don't have any "old" clothing to provide, you can easily buy new socks or underwear and donate them. Or you can easily make a donation to the LA LGBT Center by clicking HERE! Let's make this year's extra special class even more extra special!

Here's a little more about the LA LGBT Center:

No organization offers a wider range of services for LGBT and questioning youth than the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Whether you’re one of the thousands of LGBT young people experiencing homelessness in L.A., you’re looking for an adult mentor, you’re not feeling safe at school, or you just want a fun and welcoming space to connect with others your age, the LA LGBT Center can help. Member services include temporary housing or housing referrals; breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks; showers; clothing and laundry services; education programs; HIV testing and counseling; addiction recovery services; employment program; computer lab; recreational activities; art/music groups; counseling and support groups.

On any given day there are 6,000 youth (ages 24 and younger) living on the streets of Los Angeles; a staggering 40% of them in Hollywood—one of the most popular destinations for youth experiencing homelessness—are LGBT. Our Youth Center on Highland—open 7 days a week—offers a place to stay for a night or up to
30 nights; 3 meals/day; clothing; support groups; a charter high school, GED and college prep program; an employment preparation, training and placement program; and whatever support youth need to get off the streets. We also offer medical care, counseling, a 24-bed Transitional Living Program (TLP) where youth can stay for up to 18 months, and even affordable apartments for the youth who graduate from the TLP. More than 90% of youth exiting the TLP have secured stable housing, and employment and/or scholarships to post-secondary institutions that enable them to live independently.
