I am posting a (somewhat) new track list this morning as it has a couple of special tracks included.

First, I want to mention the track titled, "One Life One Chance" by the band H20. Rusty who frequents the Ride with Tommy! along with his wife, Debby, plays for H20. They will be performing at the Roxy this Sunday night. The show starts at 7:00pm but they probably won't be going on until around 9:00pm. Travis Barker of Blink 182 will be playing with them. And the show benefits the project called "One Life One Choice" created by Toby Morse, lead singer of H20. For more information, visit the website by clicking here! Also, this morning's first cool down is sung by AJ Sarcione, "Breaking Point". I love it! AJ is a frequent rider in the Ride with Tommy! classes, too. He will be performing at Dennis Hensley's (another Ride with Tommy! regular!) "Village Variety Pack" at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center's Renberg Theatre on Monday night, February 6th at 8pm. Also in the same show, Nadeya Ward, yet another Ride with Tommy! frequenter, will be performing as well. I have played several of Nadeya's songs in class, one as recently as last week! As most of you that showed up this morning know, I was unable to teach this morning's Red Line Ride at 9:30. I had a family emergency at 9:00 that prevented me from doing so. Everything is fine now. Thanks to everyone that asked, texted, emailed and messaged me.

And I have to give a great big thanks to Ryan for subbing at the very last minute (as she has done for me before!) Fortunately for everyone that showed up for class, Ryan is an amazing instructor and everyone got a great class. So for that, I am relieved and grateful!

For the fourth year in a row, we kick off the new year looking back at the previous year...or listening to it...with DJ Earworm's mashup of the top 25 songs of the year 2010 according to Billboard. DJ Earworm was one of the first deejays to lead me into the world of "mashups" and I now wholeheartedly embrace their use in class as a way to make classes more fun and high energy. DJ Earworm has an amazing talent for "blending" different songs - even genres! - together into a seamless soundtrack to inspire and motivate riders to the next level, a higher level, where they are giving more than they thought they were going to, more than they thought they could! That's what I like to see! And I'm including DJ Earworm's amazing video of the United State Of Pop (Don't Stop The Pop) here so you can see it and enjoy it, too!

"Yet another installment in what has become an annual New Year’s tradition. It’s the United State of Pop, which mashes up the Top 25 songs of the year, according to Billboard magazine.

In 2010, pop has gone into serious all-out party mode. In 2009 the music was encouraging us to pick ourselves back up after being knocked down again, and to rock out to some great dance music while you’re at it. This year’s music tells us to keep going now that we’re up and having fun. In fact, the fun seems to be in such overdrive that it borders on recklessness. I'd also like to highlight one of my new favorite songs of any kind! Yes, it is a mashup, but it is really hard to tell that it is. Yes, it is a ballad, but is an absolutely beautiful cool down. And yes, it comes from a somewhat surprising source...one of the hottest pop stars of the year and a rock band with a former teen hearthrob as the lead singer. I'm talking about DJ Sergio's mashup, "Not Like A Queen" featuring Katy Perry and 30 Second to Mars. The blend of Katy Perry's "Not Like The Movies" and the 30 Second to Mars single "Kings & Queens" is more like a haunting, smooth, soulful, beautiful duet than it is a mashup. And yes, the lead singer of 30 Second to Mars is Jared Leto, formerly the teen hearthrob and Claire Dane's crush in the critically lauded, poorly rated and thusly short-lived TV series, "My So-Called Life" also starring former Crunch member, Wilson Cruz in a ground breaking role.
