Happy New Year! It is the first Tuesday of 2016. It is the first Peak Performance Ride of 2016. It is my first class back in 2016. A lot of firsts! And an amazing way to get back into the routine or to start a new routine! So many people complain of all the people that join and crowd the gym for the first few weeks or months of a new year. New Year Resolutionists I have heard them called. Getting on a machine is more difficult. Finding parking is more difficult. Doing a superset is near impossible. Well, I say that this is a great thing! Not only are more people trying to do something positive in their lives, trying to improve their lives, and even trying to live healthier, happier and longer lives, but more people in the gym brings a new energy into the gym. That's right. A new and more exciting energy! An energy that is created by people doing something positive. And as I always say in my classes, we can "feed" off of each others' energy! That's is why I stress creating a POSITIVE energy in class. Sure, there is so much negative energy out there. You can let the added wait for a specific machine get you mad or frustrated. But you know what? You don't have to. CHOOSE to focus on the positive! Think about how that person that may be on the exact machine that you want may just be following a doctor's orders. That person may have a personal issue that has prevented them from working out in a gym setting and preventing them from working out to improve their life. Well, the beginning of the year may have just brought them to the gym to work at what you may already have. A healthy body. A healthy mind. A positive attitude. A positive outlook. Instead of being frustrated, celebrate them! Celebrate the positive energy! Celebrate the new year! Celebrate your own new beginnings! Change is only made with a commitment. Whatever gets a person to that place where that commitment can be made and a positive change can be made, that should be celebrated! I hope to see you and to celebrate with you in class this week! And the next! And the next! And the many weeks after that! Let's do this! Let's do this now! In good health, tommy
